China plans to build seven wind power bases with a
minimum capacity of 10 gigawatts each by 2020, in
a move to dramatically increase the use of the clean
energy. Xinhua reported that the bases will be located
in Gansu, Hebei, Jilin and Jiangsu provinces, as well as
the Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regions.
Construction of the seven bases will see an investment
of around CNY1 trillion (US$146.5 billion).
