Two thirds of crab species endangered

Two thirds of all freshwater crab species maybe at

risk of extinction, with one in six species particularly

vulnerable, according to a new survey. The BBC has

reported that scientists from the Zoological Society

of London and NorthernMichiganUniversity led the

survey, which found that crab species in Southeast

Asia are the most at risk, from habitat destruction,

pollution and drainage. 40 of 50 species living in Sri

Lanka are threatened, the report added.
